Protecting your church with insurance or simply knowing what you have on hand is vital to the operation of your church. Creating an inventory for a church involves identifying and cataloging the various items on the church property.

Here are some inventory questions that can help you get started:

Building and Facilities: 

  1. What is the physical address of the church? 
  2. What is the square footage of the church building? 
  3. How many rooms or spaces are within the church premises?

Furniture and Fixtures: 

  1. What furniture is present in each room? 
  2. Are there any fixed fixtures? 
  3. What is the condition (e.g., new, used, damaged) of each furniture item?

Technology and Electronics: 

  1. What electronic devices are owned by the church (e.g., computers, printers, sound systems)?
  2.  Where are these devices located?
  3. What software licenses does the church hold? 
  4. What audio-visual equipment is owned by the church (e.g., microphones, speakers, ect.)?
  5. Where is each piece of equipment located? 
  6. What is the condition of the equipment, and when was it last inspected or serviced?

Musical Instruments: 

  1. What musical instruments does the church own? 
  2. Where are these instruments stored or used? 
  3. When were the instruments last tuned or maintained? 

Artistic Items of Value: 

  1. Are any paintings owned or on loan to the Church? 
  2. What decorative items does the church own? 
  3. Are there any valuable or historical pieces that need special care?


Library Items or Books: 

  1. What books and literature are present in the church library or study rooms? 
  2. How are these materials organized and cataloged? 
  3. Is there a system for tracking borrowed items?

Storage Areas: 

  1. Are there designated storage areas for equipment and supplies? 
  2. How are items organized in storage, and is there an inventory of these items? 

Emergency Supplies:

  1. Does the church have emergency supplies such as first aid kits, fire extinguishers, or evacuation plans? 
  2. How often are these items checked and updated?

Insurance Information: 

  1. What items are covered by insurance, and what is the coverage amount? 
  2. Is the insurance policy up to date with new items?
